Mosquito Exterminator in New York City

Mosquitoes in New York City Are a Real Health Problem

Brooklyn and Queens aren’t just dealing with annoying bites they’re dealing with West Nile virus every single summer. In 2024, both boroughs recorded 12 confirmed West Nile disease cases each, the highest of any borough in the city. And in 2025, New York City mosquitoes tested positive for Jamestown Canyon virus for the first time in the city’s history. This isn’t a suburban problem that drifted into the city. It’s a local, ongoing public health reality. We’ve been providing mosquito control services to homeowners, property managers, and businesses across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens since 1971. We know the neighborhoods, the housing types, and the specific conditions that make New York City’s mosquito season so relentless. Our job is to give you back your outdoor space safely and reliably.

Outdoor Mosquito Control in Brooklyn

What Changes After Professional Treatment

From your backyard in Park Slope to your rooftop in Manhattan, here's what you can actually expect when the job is done right.

Your yard becomes usable again — evenings outside without constantly swatting or retreating indoors.
Kids and pets can play outside without you watching the clock or counting bites.
You stop second-guessing whether that bite came from a mosquito carrying West Nile virus.
Outdoor events — BBQs, birthday parties, graduation gatherings — go ahead without mosquitoes becoming the main topic of conversation.
Breeding sites on your property get identified and addressed, not just sprayed over and forgotten.
You get clear post-treatment guidance so you know exactly when it’s safe for your family and pets to go back outside.

Yard Mosquito Control New York City

The City Sprays — But Not Your Yard

A lot of New York City residents assume the Department of Health has this covered. And to be fair, the city does run an active mosquito surveillance and control program approximately 260 trap locations citywide, aerial larviciding over marshes like Jamaica Bay, and truck-based spraying in public spaces during high-risk periods. That’s real work, and it matters. But here’s what it doesn’t cover: your backyard. Your gutters. Your building’s rooftop drain. Your garden containers. The AC drip pan outside your window. Everything on private property is entirely your responsibility — and that’s exactly where mosquitoes breed and bite. The city’s program stops at your property line. Ours starts there. If you’re in Marine Park, Canarsie, or Howard Beach, you’re living right alongside Jamaica Bay’s wetlands one of the most significant mosquito breeding environments in the outer boroughs. That proximity matters. We’ve been based in Marine Park since 1971, and we understand what that means for the neighborhoods around it.

What Our Mosquito Treatment Actually Covers

Before any product goes down, we inspect. Kingsway Exterminating looks at your specific property the gutters, the shaded resting areas, the standing water you may not have noticed, the vegetation along your fence line. Brooklyn brownstones collect water in ways that a Forest Hills single-family home doesn’t. A Queens yard with mature trees has different harborage patterns than a Manhattan rooftop garden. We’ve seen all of it, and we treat accordingly. Treatment targets both adult mosquitoes and their breeding sources. That means residual barrier applications to vegetation and resting surfaces, plus larvicide where standing water can’t be eliminated. We use only NYSDEC-registered materials nothing that isn’t cleared by New York State for residential and commercial use. After treatment, we walk you through re-entry times and what to do between visits to keep pressure down. One-time treatments and seasonal programs are both available depending on what your property needs.
